    Did you ever have an oil leak and need to replace the gasket between the oil filter bracket and the block? I think when that goes, some of the rubber gets stuck in the oil restrictor to one or both side heads.

    • @316Autos

      I replaced that gasket when I started, but this was a junkyard engine, so there's no telling. It never had oil starvation to the cam caps though.

    • @316Autos

      It's not shady for me because I always make sure the car is mechanically solid before I sell it. Some dealers don't bother with the mechanics, they do this and sell it, because these methods work better.

  • @saleendriver
    @saleendriver 16 днів тому

    Not sure these things fall under the class of "shady". What you did are things that folks can and should do in their own driveways. Plenty of other things used dealers do that are shady.....but not this stuff in this video. IMHO.

    • @316Autos
      @316Autos 16 днів тому

      Little bit of clickbait, not gonna lie. The thing that makes it shady is that the vast majority of dealers will do this kind of stuff rather than fix the mechanical side of things. They know that there's more profit in the looks than the mechanical condition. That's kind of what the video is about, I put up a running and driving truck that looked bad and I couldn't sell it, but the second I made it look good, it sold.

    Is it normal to find oil residue in the breather hose and air duct? If that’s the fresh air side of the PCV system how does oil make its way through? I found oily gunk in my intake tube.

    • @316Autos
      @316Autos 26 днів тому

      It's not uncommon on higher mileage engines. PCV is probably letting some by. I've even seen it from the air filters that take some oil. So long as it's not an actual puddle, I wouldn't worry too much.
